The Parliament of India passed the 24th Amendment of the Constitution in 1971 to abrogate the judgement.

This prompted The Supreme Court of India to adopt the Basic Structure Doctrine of Indian Legal System explicitly preventing the legislature from altering the basic structure of The Constitution of India.
