Protohistoric

• The period between Prehistoric Period and Historic Period, a transition period between the advent of literacy and the writings of the first historians

• It is also used to denote a culture (as “protohistoric culture”) where the culture itself hasn’t yet developed writing, but other cultures have noted its existence and characteristics in their own writings
